Early box office projections for Thor: Ragnarok put the film on track to easily enjoy the Thor franchise’s best opening weekend yet. Marvel Studios is changing things up for the third installment in the Thor movie series. They’re moving away from the Shakespearean approach of the previous films and moving completely into the cosmic realms that Thor is meant to roam. To do this, director Taika Waititi joined the project to further differentiate Ragnarok‘s look and tone from the previous films… and he was also given the franchise’s best cast, too.
Scarlett Johansson has teased an Avengers: Infinity War scene featuring 32 different characters. Since Marvel Studios announced Infinity War, various individuals involved have spoken about the scale of the film, with directors Joe and Anthony Russo teasing 67 characters at one point, and Kevin Feige describing the film as the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Studios appears to have another major motion picture blockbuster success on their hands as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 makes its way to the top of the box office for the second Friday in a row. After garnering a grand total of over $500 million in ticket sales during its first week in theaters, the latest franchise installment in the overarching Marvel Cinematic Universe is on track to exceed and surpass all expectations from die-hard fans and general moviegoers alike.
